Subject: Weekend Closures & Restrictions on Valley Freeways Weekend of November 21 - 24 Date: Thursday, November 20, 2008 6:26 PM Weekend Closures & Restrictions on Valley Freeways Weekend of November 21 - 24 Carpool lane projects on Loop 101 and freeway widening around the Valley continue to progress and will require lane restrictions this weekend. Crews are also pushing to finish construction work before they-and drivers-get a break for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is encouraging drivers to allow extra travel time and use alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place: * Northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) narrowed to two lanes at Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) interchange from 7 a.m. Saturday to 3 p.m. Sunday (November 23) for bridge work. Northbound on-ramp at Rio Salado Parkway closed. DETOUR: Use local streets as alternate routes. * Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Cactus Road and Raintree Drive from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (November 24) for carpool lane construction. Cactus Road on-ramp and Raintree Drive off-ramp closed. DETOUR: Please slow down and use caution in the work zone. * Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to three lanes between I-10 and Rural Road from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (November 24) for freeway widening. Eastbound Mill Avenue on-ramp closed. DETOUR: Please slow down and use caution in the work zone. * Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to one lane in each direction between Tatum Boulevard and 56th Street from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (November 22) for carpool lane construction. DETOUR: Please slow down and use caution in the work zone. Use local streets to avoid delays. * I-10 narrowed to two lanes in each direction between Avondale Boulevard and 99th Avenue from 11 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday (November 24) for freeway widening. DETOUR: Please slow down and use caution in the work zone. * I-10 narrowed to one lane between Avondale Boulevard and the Agua Fria Bridge for freeway widening. Westbound lanes will be narrowed from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday (November 22). Eastbound lanes will be narrowed from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday (November 23). DETOUR: Please slow down and use caution in the work zone. * Southbound I-17 narrowed to one lane overnight between Dixileta Drive and Jomax Road for bridge work. The restrictions will occur from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (November 22); 9 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday (November 23); and 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (November 24). DETOUR: Please slow down and use caution in the work zone. * Southbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) closed overnight between Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) and Bell Road from midnight to 6 a.m. Saturday (November 22) for overhead sign work. Ramps from Loop 101 to southbound SR 51 closed. Southbound on-ramp at Union Hills Drive closed. DETOUR: Westbound Loop 101 traffic will exit at Tatum Boulevard and go south to Bell Road to connect with SR 51. Eastbound Loop 101 traffic will exit at Cave Creek Road and go south to Bell Road to connect with SR 51. * Northbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Shea Boulevard and Thunderbird Road from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (November 24) for lane striping.
